Wild’s Backstrom stymies Oilers again

Minnesota Wild's Pavol Demitra, center, of Slovakia, celebrates after assisting on a Brent Burns goal against Edmonton Oilers goalie Dwayne Roloson, lower left, in the first period of an NHL hockey game Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2007, in St. Paul, Minn. Demitra also scored a goal in the second period as the Wild shut out the Oilers 2-0. At right is Oilers' Joni Pitkanen of Finland.

Pavol Demitra got his first goal and first assist of the young season, and then he did a little politicking. Demitra and Marian Gaborik picked up their play after two sluggish games, and Niklas Backstrom made 21 saves for his second shutout of the season in unbeaten Minnesota’s 2-0 victory over Edmonton on Wednesday.
