Highly-touted rookie forwards Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews dazzled early for the Blackhawks against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday night. But after Chicago gave up a three-goal lead, it needed a down-and-dirty goalmouth tip-in from Tuomo Ruutu with 1:25 left in the third period to snap a tie and beat Colorado, 5-3.

Brian Rolston and Mark Parrish scored second-period goals and Josh Harding posted his third career shutout with a career-high 37 saves, leading the unbeaten Wild to a testy 2-0 victory.
