Flyers spoil Sutter’s debut with Devils

Philadelphia Flyers goalie Antero Niittymaki (30), of Finland, denies New Jersey Devils' Barry Tallackson, right, from scoring during the third period of NHL preseason hockey in Trenton, N.J. on Monday, Sept. 17, 2007. The Flyers won 3-2.

Scottie Upshall’s third-period, power-play goal snapped a tie and lifted the Philadelphia Flyers to a preseason 3-2 victory over the Devils on Monday night, spoiling the coaching debut of New Jersey’s Brent Sutter. Upshall took a pass from Simon Gagne and scored the winning goal from the right circle at 8:42 of the period in the exhibition opener for both teams.
