Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton and Jonathan Cheechoo scored in a 3:20 span early in the third period to break open a tie game and lift the San Jose Sharks to a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday night. Evgeni Nabokov finished with 24 saves, keeping the Sharks in the game early with a handful of highlight stops before the struggling San Jose offense got untracked.

The Blue Jackets were winding down another dominant victory when the near-sellout crowd at Nationwide Arena began to chant. Columbus delivered, and now it will try to tie an NHL record on Thursday night. Cam Atkinson and William Karlsson scored power-play goals and Columbus beat the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 to extend their winning streak to 16 games – one away from the longest ever in the NHL.
