
I don’t know if, at this moment, Jordy Nelson is a better wide receiver than Michael Crabtree. But Jon Gruden thinks Nelson is a better fit for what the Raiders are trying to do on offense next season, so he swapped the wide receivers Thursday. There are 100 different ways to read into the Raiders’ move of cutting Crabtree and singing Nelson — and we’ll get into a handful of them in a moment — but one thing stands out above all else: This transaction is Gruden putting his stamp on the Raiders once again. He’s letting everyone know that, while he inherited some solid talent in Oakland, this is his show now, and that the holdovers in the building — no matter who they were hired by — work for him.
