NC State: Gottfried won’t return as men’s basketball coach (Sports Betting News)

Mark Gottfried couldn’t reverse North Carolina State’s two-year slide in time to save his job. The move comes as a once-promising season continues to unravel, with the Wolfpack struggling to compete in Atlantic Coast Conference play and losing games by lopsided margins. N.C. State has lost six straight games with four of those by at least 24 points, the last coming Wednesday night against 10th-ranked rival North Carolina.

Creighton basketball player Maurice Watson Jr. is a suspect in an alleged sexual assault in Omaha, police said Thursday. According to an incident report, a 19-year-old woman said Watson had nonconsensual sexual intercourse with her in the bathroom of a midtown residence about 3 a.m. on Feb. 4. Officer Michael Pecha said no arrest has been made and that an investigation continues.
