Charles Shackleford, a North Carolina State basketball star in the 1980s who spent six seasons in the NBA, was found dead in his home Friday. The cause of death hasn’t been determined and an investigation is underway, spokesman Woody Spencer of the Kinston Police Department told Sports Betting News. The 6-foot-10 Shackleford averaged 13.7 points and 7.8 rebounds in three seasons at N.C. State.

Former Syracuse University and Boston Celtics center Fab Melo has died in his native Brazil, military police said Sunday. An emergency call Saturday night brought police and paramedics to Melo’s house in Juiz de Fora, in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais, according to a police sergeant who gave his name only as Couto. Couto said that when the police arrived, paramedics said Melo was dead, with no signs of violence.
