In a social media message, Kentucky coach John Calipari thanked Vanessa Bryant and her daughter, Natalia, after the family sent him a package to honor Gigi Bryant on what would have been her 17th birthday Monday.

Coming off a Final Four, the momentum for the Crimson Tide to be a projected No. 1 seed — perhaps even No. 1 overall — is hard to ignore. But let’s look at the big picture.
