Wizards see a 5th consecutive game postponed by virus issues

The Washington Wizards are now assured of going at least 11 days between games, after yet another postponement while the team deals with COVID-19 issues. The Wizards’ game that was scheduled to be played Wednesday in Charlotte is now off, the NBA said Monday. Washington has seen five consecutive games pushed back, and the earliest the Wizards will play again is Friday at Milwaukee.

With Russell Westbrook sitting out for the first time this season, Oklahoma City coach Billy Donovan said he just wanted to see his young role players play well without the center of the Thunder universe on the floor. Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis and the rest of the Russ-less Thunder did him one better. Oladipo scored 20 points and hit a jumper with 6.3 seconds to play to lift the Thunder to a 100-98 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday night.

The Miami Heat will try to trade Jimmy Butler “as soon as possible,” according to Shams Charania of ESPN.

“The situation around the Heat with Jimmy Butler there had become unmanageable … the goal right now is to move Butler as soon as possible. And I’m told the Heat have spoken with teams as of Friday about Butler trades,” said Charania.

The Heat suspended Butler for seven games on Friday.

The Suns, Warriors, Rockets, and Mavs have previously been rumored as potential destinations for Butler.

The NBPA also filed a grievance on behalf of Butler to dispute the seven game suspension.
