Determined not to give the Portland Trail Blazers’ elite guards any feel-good shots, the Washington Wizards knocked down a few of their own and got rolling. Bradley Beal scored 25 points and John Wall had 24 as the Wizards took a page out of the Trail Blazers’ playbook by hitting 13 3-pointers in a comfortable 120-101 victory on Monday afternoon. Washington, which relies on the 3-point shot less than almost any other NBA team, made 9 of 13 3-pointers in a 75-point first half and was 13 of 23 in the game.

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped below .500 on the season, following a home loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday. That’s the least of the Lakers problems, as there is a growing disconnect between head coach Darvin Ham and his players, sources told The Athletic.

Six sources said the disconnect is driven by Ham’s regular starting lineup and rotation adjustments. That’s led to the Lakers having struggles finding a rhythm.

Approximately two weeks ago, Ham chose to bench D’Angelo Russell to start a bigger lineup featuring LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Taurean Prince and Jarred Vanderbilt. That decision left multiple within the Los Angeles organization as puzzled, as it left James as the Lakers’ lone ballhandler.

Steve Kerr and the Golden State Warriors still hope Andrew Wiggins will be able to return this season. Wiggins has been out since Feb. 13th tending to a family matter.

“I think that’s the hope,” Kerr said during his pregame press conference. “But really, there’s nothing to report on.”

Wiggins was a key part of Golden State’s championship a year ago.

“We’re giving him his space, as we’ve talked about, as he deals with something that’s way more important than a game,” Kerr said. “If he’s able to come back, that would be great. And if not, then that’s the case. Whatever happens, we’ll handle it accordingly.”
