Victor Wembanamya Out For Season With Blood Clot In Right Shoulder

Victor Wembanyama will miss the remainder of the season with a deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. The condition was discovered after Wembanyama returned to San Antonio following the All-Star break in San Francisco. Wembanyama started feeling symptomatic recently but believed he would feel better after two days off following the All-Star Game.

Wembanamya finishes his second NBA season with averages of 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 3.8 blocks in 33.2 minutes over 46 games.

Wembanyama was on pace to be a probable All-NBA selection this season, but he will not play in the minimum requirement of 65 games which will open up a spot on the team for another player. Wembanyama was also the heavy favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year.

Instead, the former Indiana Pacers star might announce some of their games. He is teaming exclusively with Hall-of-Famer Marv Albert this season to form one of Turner Network Television’s top basketball announcing teams.

Kevin Durant Unlikely To Be Traded Before DeadlineKevin Durant Unlikely To Be Traded Before Deadline

After the Brooklyn Nets traded Kyrie Irving, speculation immediately turned to Kevin Durant’s future with the team. The main question: Would Durant reissue the trade request he made over the summer?

To date, Durant hasn’t said anything publicly about the Irving trade, or his desires following that deal. But NBA insiders don’t think it’s likely Durant gets moved ahead of the trade deadline.

While speaking on The Lowe Post, Zach Lowe of ESPN said he doesn’t think a Durant trade is coming in the next few days.

“I’ve been saying since the James Harden trade, that it just feels like the inevitable end of this is that (Durant) asks for a trade a second time, having already done it for the first time. I just don’t know how likely that is, or when it would happen,” Lowe said. “Around the league, I think there would be some surprise-even within the Nets-if it happened in the next four days. Because that’s an avalanche of stuff happening in a very short amount of time that all of the league needs to prepare for if it becomes a thing.”
