Charlotte will be eligible to host the 2019 NBA All-Star Game after a compromise deal to replace a North Carolina law that limited anti-discrimination protections for lesbian, gay and transgender people, the league’s commissioner said Friday. ”It’s not a done deal yet,” NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said. The league’s Board of Governors discussed it during their meetings this week and made what Silver said was ”not an easy decision.” The league will develop an anti-discrimination policy that participating groups including host sites, hotels and businesses would have to abide by before the 2019 game is committed to Charlotte.

More than five years into efforts to get a new arena built in Seattle, Chris Hansen remains confident that his goal of being the facilitator for getting the NBA and NHL to Seattle will ultimately be realized. ”We view that as a civic obligation to protect that and ensure that we do our part in bringing a team back,” Hansen said. OG Anunoby, Knicks Agree To Five-Year, $212.5M ContractOG Anunoby, Knicks Agree To Five-Year, $212.5M Contract

OG Anunoby and the New York Knicks have agreed to a five-year, $212.5 million contract. Anunoby’s deal will include a player option and trade kicker. The Knicks acquired Anunoby from the Toronto Raptors in December in exchange for Immanuel Quickley and RJ Barrett.

In 23 regular season game with the Knicks, Anunoby averaged 14.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks in 34.9 minutes.

Anunoby is represented by Drew Morrison, Austin Brown and Sam Rose of CAA. Anunoby will not reach the open free agent market with his agents negotiating the contract with Leon Rose over the past few days.

Rival teams could have offered Anunoby a four-year contract worth up to $182 million. Anunoby’s max with the Knicks would have been worth $245.3 million over five years. Anunoby is signing for almost $33 million less than his max and his first year salary will be at approximately 26 percent of the NBA salary cap.

The Knicks traded for Mikal Bridges on Tuesday evening as they secure two of the best two-way wings in the NBA in Bridges and Anunoby. In the immediate aftermath of the Bridges’ trade, it was reported that the Knicks still highly prioritized retaining Anunoby.
