The NBA’s All-Star weekend is going to be a working vacation. With the festivities heading to New Orleans this season, the league is planning an All-Star day of service on that Friday to kick off events. NBA commissioner David Stern will announce those plans at a news conference Wednesday before the Hornets host Sacramento that night.

Anthony Davis was forced to leave his debut game with the Dallas Mavericks early due to a lower body injury. Postgame, Davis said he felt a “little spasm” in his previous injured abdomen, but that the injury was “nothing serious”. Davis followed up by saying he was “very confident” that he didn’t suffer a setback in his recovery from the previous abdomen strain.

Davis got his Mavericks career off to a good start, helping Dallas to beat the Houston Rockets. In 31 minutes before exiting, the All-Star big man had 26 points, 16 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks.
