Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a three-year, $50 million sign-and-trade with the Golden State Warriors facilitating. The Charlotte Hornets will acquire Josh Green from the Mavericks as part of the trade for two future second round picks.

Thompson was a first round pick by the Warriors in 2011 and they went on to win four titles together. Thompson, who is represented by Greg Lawrence, is coming off a five-year, $190 million contract agreed upon in 2019 following his ACL tear in Game 6 of The Finals. In 77 games last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 38.7 percent on three-pointers.

Thompson also strongly considered the Los Angeles Lakers. Thompson had four-year offers for more money elsewhere, but taking less was reportedly offset by an opportunity to win a title with Dallas and the difference in state income taxes.

The Knicks finished 31-51 in their fourth straight season out of the playoffs.
