Nuggets Prepared To Give Jamal Murray Supermax ExtensionNuggets Prepared To Give Jamal Murray Supermax Extension

Jamal Murray hasn’t had his full breakout season just yet. But the Denver Nuggets are prepared to pay him when he does.

“We’re anticipating that we’re probably paying him the supermax,” Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth said. “He’ll probably make All-NBA.”

Booth added that Denver knows that a supermax extension for Murray will put a lot of salary on their cap sheet, but that they’ll be happy to offer it anyway.

“It’s going to be a hit to our salary cap,” Booth said. “But I love seeing people reach their potential when they play the way he can.”

Murray has yet to be named to an All-Star team, never mind All-NBA. In order to qualify for a supermax extension, Murray would need to be named to the All-NBA team this season or next season. Murray’s current deal has two years left, running through the 2024-25 season.
