Sixers Prepared To Sideline James Harden If He Doesn’t Play Hard

The Philadelphia 76ers are continuing to wait on a possible James Harden trade, while he remains unmoved in his wish to be dealt elsewhere.

“Obviously there is no long-term future for James Harden and the Sixers,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “That’s clear.”

The Sixers are taking a patient approach with the hope Harden contributes on the court.

“I think you have to wait and see what he shows you once the season starts. If James Harden shows them that he’s not going to play hard. That he’s not going to compete at the level that they need him to. I think they would just sideline James Harden. I don’t think they would let it go on. But I’m not sure that’s going to happen. I don’t know James Harden has said ‘that’s not going to happen.’

“There’s going to be real serious trade discussions at some time this season. It is just hard to do them in this league in the preseason.”

Philadelphia’s trade options will presumably become greater once players signed in the offseason can be traded beginning on December 15th.
