Rockets Prioritizing Development Over Major Trade This Season

The Houston Rockets have been linked to superstars Kevin Durant and, more recently, Giannis Antetokounmpo in trade rumors. While the Rockets aren’t disinterested in either star forward, Houston isn’t looking to make a move this season.

The focus for this season is on internal development for their young roster. The Rockets intend to keep that focus, instead of looking to make a major move now.

As Houston moves forward, they intend to prioritize whether any acquisitions fit within the team’s timeline. The Rockets did have eyes on pursuing Donovan Mitchell, as he was seen as young enough to fit with the team’s young core. However, Mitchell came off the board when he signed a max extension to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
