Raptors Kept Scottie Barnes Off Limits In Trade Talks For Damian Lillard, Kevin Durant

The Toronto Raptors kept Scottie Barnes “off limits” in trade talks for both Kevin Durant and Damian Lillard, sources tell Zach Lowe of ESPN.

After winning Rookie of the Year, Barnes put up similar numbers in Year 2 by averaging 15.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game. Barnes, however, was less efficient as a scorer and the Raptors were eliminated in the play-in.

The Raptors are at a franchise crossroads after losing Fred VanVleet in free agency with Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby eligible for free agency next offseason. Barnes appears to be the foundational piece for the Raptors as they move into the next phase of their franchise.
