Porzingis wouldn’t become a free agent until 2024 under that scenario, though he could also sign an extension.
If Porzingis exercises his player option, the Wizards could consider trading him.
Before the Wizards parted ways with Tommy Sheppard, the broad expectation was for Porzingis to become a free agent and then re-sign with the Wizards.
Washington acquired Porzingis from the Dallas Mavericks ahead of the 2022 trade deadline.
This sets Noel up to become an unrestricted free agent next season. Nerlens Noel is going to stay with the Mavericks next season on a one-year qualifying offer worth $4.1 million, according to ESPN’s Chris Haynes. Noel was seeking a maximum contract offer he wasn’t able to get from the Mavs.
