The New Orleans Pelicans are expected to hire Joe Dumars as their lead basketball executive to replace David Griffin. Dumars is currently head of basketball operations in the NBA’s league office.
Dumars and the Pelicans are expected to engage in serious conversations to finalize a deal by the end of the week. Dumars is a native of Louisiana.
Dumars was the Detroit Pistons’ lead basketball executive from 2000 until 2014, winning a championship in 2004. Dumars also served in a number of capacities with the Sacramento Kings from 2019 until 2022.
