Shams Charania has announced he is joining ESPN as their Senior NBA Insider.

“I am honored to join ESPN as the company’s Senior NBA Insider,” wrote Charania on Twitter. “I can’t wait to be part of an incredible group of colleagues at ESPN and serve the sports audience worldwide.”

Charania joins ESPN after he had been with The Athletic since 2018. Previously, Charania had worked for Yahoo and RealGM.

Charania will replace Adrian Wojnarowski, who retired from sports reporting to become general manager of St. Bonaventure. Charania and Wojnarowski worked together with Yahoo from 2015 until the latter’s departure to ESPN in 2017.
