Mason Plumlee Could Return Monday

The LA Clippers frontcourt has some help on the way. Mason Plumlee is nearing a return after nearly a two-month absence. Plumlee could play as soon as Monday, as he’s nearly fully recovered from a sprained MCL in his left knee.

Plumlee was injured during the Clippers loss at the New York Knicks on November 6. He’s missed LA’s last 25 games.

During Plumlee’s absence, the Clippers signed Daniel Theis. The veteran center worked a buyout with the Indiana Pacers before joining LA. Plumlee will pair with Theis to give Ty Lue additional depth behind starting center Ivica Zubac.

New talent helped the Toronto Raptors, though a familiar face pushed them over the finish line. Fresh off starting in last weekend’s All-Star Game, and with Kyle Lowry out with a right wrist injury, DeMar DeRozan scored a career-high 43 points to lead Toronto back from a 17-point deficit to a 107-97 victory over the Boston Celtics on Friday night. The absence of his fellow All-Star brought on a change in mindset for DeRozan, who shot 15 of 28 from the floor in surpassing the 42 points he had against Houston on March 30, 2015.

Well-rested on fresh legs, Stephen Curry found his 3-point touch during one phenomenal flurry in one game-breaking quarter. Draymond Green got hit with a technical while walking away and let his usual fire fly at coach Steve Kerr in the aftermath. Kevin Durant brought some postgame comedy – ”I got a couple of jokey jokes.” The Golden State Warriors returned to full strength and sure look poised to play for the long haul.
