Mark Jackson Laid Off By ESPN With Doris Burke, Doc Rivers Set To Be Lead Analysts

ESPN has laid off Mark Jackson, joining Jeff Van Gundy in exiting their lead NBA broadcast team.

ESPN is closing in on promoting Doris Burke and also hiring Doc Rivers to join Mike Breen.

ESPN considering shifting Jackson to their “B” team with Mark Jones, but that plan fell apart as they want to get more reps for JJ Redick and Richard Jefferson.

Burke and Rivers are believed to be popular in the NBA’s league office. There is no evidence that the NBA delivered an edict to ESPN to make a change.

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t heard anything from the New York Knicks that makes him believe he’s being traded. A day before the NBA’s trade deadline, Anthony said Wednesday that he expects to remain with the Knicks, since they’ve given him no indication they’re looking to deal their All-Star forward. Anthony has a rare no-trade clause and would have to agree to any deal, so he would expect to be kept in the loop if any serious proposals were being discussed.
