The Los Angeles Lakers are close to finalizing a decision to hire J.J. Redick as head coach.
The indications are strong that Redick is the Lakers’ leading choice even as they still have steps remaining in their process.
Redick and James Borrego have emerged in recent weeks as the leading candidates for the Lakers.
Redick is currently working as a color commentator for the NBA Finals and a potential announcement isn’t expected until after the series concludes.
Sources have described Lakers officials as “infatuated” with Redick and his potential as a coach.
Redick has never coached above the youth level.
