Knicks Extension Offer To Immanual Quickley Was Not Fully Guaranteed

The New York Knicks and Immanuel Quickley did not reach an agreement on an extension last offseason. In part, that’s because the Knicks offer to Quickley wasn’t fully guaranteed.

Reports were that Quickley sought a deal worth $25 million per season. According to Ian Begley of SportsNet New York, there wasn’t a specific dollar amount targeted. Things never got that far, because the Knicks offer included a team option on the final season in an extension for the Kentucky product. That’s not something Quickley was apparently interested in.

Now, the fourth-year guard is headed for restricted free agency this summer. New York will have the ability to match any offer sheet signed by Quickley. They can also work out a new deal for Quickley themselves, or the scoring guard and the Knicks could work together on a sign-and-trade to another team.

Joakim Noah was seeking help to overcome injuries that wrecked his first season in New York and turned to an over-the-counter supplement. It led to a 20-game suspension for violating the NBA’s anti-drug policy , preventing Noah from ending a disappointing year on a positive note. ”This was a tough moment, but I’m going to learn from it,” Noah said.
