Joel Embiid Tweaked Left Knee, To Be Reevaluated Saturday

Philadelphia 76ers Joel Embiid left his team’s victory over the Orlando Magic towards the end of the first half. Embiid landed awkwardly and seemed to be having issues with his previously injured left knee. He returned for the second half, but seemed to be laboring at different points.

Sixers head coach Nick Nurse confirmed postgame that Embiid did tweak his left knee, but was cleared to play in the second half. Nurse said Embiid will be reevaluated on Saturday. At that point a decision will be made if the reigning MVP can play in Philadelphia’s finale vs the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.

The 76ers can still be anywhere from the No. 5 seed to the No. 8 seed in the Eastern Conference. Landing at No. 5 or No. 6 would put Philadelphia in the playoffs. Being No. 7 or No. 8 would see the Sixers in the Play-In Tournament.

Zaccharie Risacher Moves To Hawks At No. 1 In Latest ESPN Mock DraftZaccharie Risacher Moves To Hawks At No. 1 In Latest ESPN Mock Draft

ESPN has moved Zaccharie Risacher to the Atlanta Hawks with the No. 1 pick in their latest mock draft.

Every team drafting in the top-5 has interest in Risacher, who is not expected to fall out of the top-2.

During the playoffs, Risacher averaged 15.1 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, shooting 67% from the field and 38% on 3-pointers.

The direction of the Hawks remains unclear as Trae Young and Dejounte Murray are trade candidates and while they will definitively retool their roster, it remains to be seen if their ownership will embrace a rebuild. A further complication of any desire to rebuild stems from their decision to trade away control of their next three drafts to the San Antonio Spurs as part of the Murray deal in 2022.

Tyler Herro Could Return FridayTyler Herro Could Return Friday

Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro traveled with the team on a three-game road trip. That has created some optimism that Herro is on the cusp of a return, possibly as soon as Friday night. The Heat play at the Houston Rockets on Friday before traveling to play the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks.

Herro has missed the last 20 games due to a right foot injury. Overall, Herro has played in only 36 games this season.

Miami will welcome the backcourt help, as the Heat are down to Terry Rozier III and Duncan Robinson as playing regular minutes at the guard position. Herro has averaged a career-high 20.8 points and 4.4 assists, along with 5.3 rebounds per game.
