Joel Embiid, Sixers Close To Deciding Treatment Plan For Injured Knee

When Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid was ruled out for the season on February 28, the team said they would work with him on a rehab and treatment plan for his injured left knee. A month later, it seems that a decision is finally close.

Sixers coach Nick Nurse said that Embiid is done, or close to done, meeting with specialists on how to handle his injury.

“I don’t want to speak definitively – I think he’s done seeing all the specialists,” Nurse said. “There may be one or – and those kind of turn into more discussions. I kind of just got up to speed on all of it today. But yeah, I think it’s kind of, like, decision time, and there’s so many opinions and weighing all that out and seeing exactly what’s going to happen. I think we’re close to that point of him making a decision on which route he’s going to take. Just not quite there yet.”

LeBron James has widely been expected to play one to two more seasons in the NBA, but his exact timeline is unclear and he doesn’t appear to even know when he’ll decide to retire. James turned 40 in December and is in his 21st season in the NBA.

“It’s popping up more and more every year,” said James on Wednesday’s ‘Pat McAfee Show’. “Obviously, I know that I’m on the other side of the hill than the other side. For me, it’s about my mind. I’m all about the process. If it gets to the point where I don’t feel like showing up to the arena five hours in advance. Or I don’t feel like training. Or I don’t feel like studying the scout sheet of guys. If it gets to that point, I’ll know, ‘You know what, Bron, that’s a wrap.’ I will be able to tell.”

James is on track to make an All-NBA team for the 19th time in his career with the only times he wasn’t on one coming as a rookie in 2004 and his injury-shortened 18-19 season.
