Joel Embiid Scores 70 Points In Sixers’ Win Over Spurs

Joel Embiid became the ninth player in NBA history to score 70 or more points as the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the San Antonio Spurs by a final score of 133-123.

Embiid was 24-for-41 from the field and 21-for-23 at the line to go with 18 rebounds and five assists.

Embiid had 24 points after the first quarter, 34 at halftime and 59 points at the end of the third quarter. Embiid reentered the game in the fourth quarter as the Spurs kept the game close.

Wilt Chamberlain, Kobe Bryant, David Thompson, Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell, David Robinson, Elgin Baylor and Devin Booker are the other eight players to score at least 70 points.

Jaylen Brown was ready to shoot when the ball came to him in the right corner. Brown sank a 3-pointer while being fouled with 37.6 seconds remaining, and the Boston Celtics ended up with five points on that possession, taking the lead for good in a 104-98 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Sunday night. The Celtics were down 96-95 when Brown connected while being fouled by Marcus Morris.
