James Harden Remains In Houston While Holding Out

James Harden remains in Houston while skipping media day with the Philadelphia 76ers and their subsequent flight to Fort Collins, Colorado. Harden had interest in returning to the Houston Rockets this offseason, but their interest is believed to have diminished after hiring Ime Udoka as head coach.

Harden is seeking a trade from the Sixers with the Los Angeles Clippers his preferred destination. Harden opted into his $35.6 million contract with the Sixers in June with the expectation he would be traded. The Sixers have continued to hold out for more draft capital than the Clippers have so far been willing to offer.

Harden will be ineligible for free agency in 2024 if he withholds his services for 30 or more days, which has led many to hold the expectation that he will eventually report to the Sixers.

Bob Myers Could Leave Warriors This WeekBob Myers Could Leave Warriors This Week

Golden State Warriors president of basketball operations Bob Myers is notably working without a contract that extends past this season. Myers and the Warriors have been unable to agree to terms to extend his deal over the past several months.

The sense some are getting is that Myers is poised to leave Golden State later this week. Myers reportedly wouldn’t be leaving over money or relationships. The Warriors (players and non-players) all want Myers back, and they are willing to pay handsomely to retain him.

Myers is reportedly looking to take a break from the NBA. He’s run the Warriors front office for the last nine seasons and could be looking to step back from the NBA for a while. Should that happen, Golden State is expected to promote Mike Dunleavy Jr. to run the team’s basketball operations.
