New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson has begun doing controlled on-court work. The Knicks said Brunson’s status will be updated in one week.

Brunson has been out since March 6, when he suffered a sprained right ankle against the Los Angeles Lakers. It was reported that Brunson would be out three to four weeks with the injury.

The Knicks All-Star guard has averaged 26.3 points, 7.4 assists and a steal per game this season. Brunson had played in 61 of New York’s first 62 games prior to the injury.

Dan Hurley has rejected a six-year, $70 million offer to become head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers to remain at UConn.

The Lakers pursued Hurley over a number of weeks, but it only became a publicly reported story last week. Hurley reportedly made his decision to remain at UConn on Sunday with the news breaking on Monday.

Hurley told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Sunday that the Lakers made a “compelling case” and presented a “compelling vision” for him to become head coach.

James Borrego has remained a candidate for the job, while the Lakers could also conduct their first formal interview with JJ Redick.
