Ja Morant’s Camp Reportedly Feels NBA, Media ‘Out To Get Them’

Ja Morant has received a 25-game suspension from the NBA and must meet conditions set by the league in order to be reinstated.

Morant was filmed on Instagram Live flashing a gun two weeks after the Memphis Grizzlies were eliminated from the playoffs, which followed his eight-game suspension in March for a similar incident.

“I have heard indirectly that Ja and people close to Ja, perhaps people formerly close to Ja, have this feeling that the NBA out to get them,” said Tim MacMahon. “That the media is out to get them.”

Morant also had other off-court incidents such as a confrontation with members of the Indiana Pacers that allegedly involved a laser pointer, as well as a fight with a teenager during a pickup game at his house.

Morant is beginning a five-year, $195 million contract extension with the Memphis Grizzlies this season.

The NBA Board of Governors met again without a consensus opinion emerging on how many teams should be back on the floor for the planned late-July resumption of the pandemic-interrupted season, three people familiar with details of the call said Friday. The people, speaking on condition of anonymity to Sports Betting News because no details of the call were publicly released, said Commissioner Adam Silver is still collecting information on multiple options ranging from 16 to 30 teams returning to action when the season begins again at the ESPN Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando, Florida. One person said the idea of bringing back 20 teams – possibly a few more, but not all 30 – continues to resonate as the most likely scenario, as of now.

Kawhi Leonard Progressing Well In Return From Knee SurgeryKawhi Leonard Progressing Well In Return From Knee Surgery

LA Clippers coach Ty Lue gave a positive update on Kawhi Leonard before Friday’s game in Minnesota. Leonard has missed the entire season to this point, as he’s recovering from offseason knee surgery.

“He’s progressing well. He’s been able to get on the court and do some things on the court, which is good for us,” Lue said about Leonard. “So just still checking every box, making sure that he’s doing the right things and his workouts are really good and making sure we don’t let him get to the next step until he checks those boxes, so our medical staff has done a great job with that, making sure that we make sure he’s 100% when he comes back.”

Leonard played in 68 games last season for the Clippers. The star forward put together a terrific all-around season. However, Leonard was limited to playing in just two of LA’s playoff games, as they fell to the Dallas Mavericks in six games in the first round.
