Ja Morant Playing Through Shoulder Injury

Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is playing through a right shoulder injury. With Jaren Jackson Jr. sidelined, Morant wants to be on the floor for his team, but he knows the injury is impacting his play.

“Terrible,” Morant said on returning against the Thunder. “I should have been out. But I was out there. Regardless of out, in – there’s going to be something said.”

The Grizzlies star said he’s been dealing with shoulder soreness for months now. Morant was initially injured on December 27 and the soreness has lingered since then.

“I’ve played like this all season, honestly,” he said. “It is what it is. Got to get the win.”

When asked if he’d be dealing with the shoulder injury for the rest of the season, Morant kept it simple by answering “I don’t know.”

As Karl-Anthony Towns powered through Portland’s smaller frontcourt, the Trail Blazers found out just how much they’re going to miss big man Jusuf Nurkic down the stretch. Towns had 34 points and 12 rebounds and the Minnesota Timberwolves snapped Portland’s six-game winning streak with a 110-109 victory over the Trail Blazers on Monday night. It was the second game for Portland without Nurkic, who galvanized the team after coming over in a trade from Denver at the deadline.
