Daryl Morey Has ‘Exorbitant Asking Price’ For James Harden

James Harden and the Philadelphia 76ers remain in limbo as no team appears prepared to pay anything close to Daryl Morey’s current asking price. The Sixers are believed to be asking for a lot for Harden because they feel comfortable with the idea of him returning to the team next season.

“His asking price is exorbitant,” said Adrian Wojnarowski of Morey. “Teams are not engaging the Sixers with the kind of asks that Daryl Morey is asking for James Harden. That’s where Daryl Morey always starts in trade talks, really high. Over time, perhaps, you work him back down.

“But like Ben Simmons, there’s hope on the Sixers’ side that eventually, at some point, they can get James Harden on board about being in Philadelphia in the last year of this deal. This opt-in that he did at $35.6 million. Now they may get to training camp and it may look different in Philly. They may have a James Harden who is not as enthusiastic about his return as they are. And then maybe they get more serious about it.

“But right now, I think the Harden talks, like Lillard, are going to linger into the summer.”

The Los Angeles Clippers and Harden are believed to have mutual interest.

Rockets Prioritizing Development Over Major Trade This SeasonRockets Prioritizing Development Over Major Trade This Season

The Houston Rockets have been linked to superstars Kevin Durant and, more recently, Giannis Antetokounmpo in trade rumors. While the Rockets aren’t disinterested in either star forward, Houston isn’t looking to make a move this season.

The focus for this season is on internal development for their young roster. The Rockets intend to keep that focus, instead of looking to make a major move now.

As Houston moves forward, they intend to prioritize whether any acquisitions fit within the team’s timeline. The Rockets did have eyes on pursuing Donovan Mitchell, as he was seen as young enough to fit with the team’s young core. However, Mitchell came off the board when he signed a max extension to stay with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Jaylen Brown Off Injury Report, Won’t Have Minutes RestrictionJaylen Brown Off Injury Report, Won’t Have Minutes Restriction

Boston Celtics wing Jaylen Brown has been limited in recent weeks with a right knee injury. Brown has been on in the injury report for weeks with a posterior impingement. Heading into Game 1 of the first round against the Orlando Magic, Brown is off the injury report.

Even better for the Celtics, Brown said he won’t have a minutes’ restrictions for Game 1 either.

Beyond that, the Boston star wasn’t interested in discussing his knee injury, which at times he’s described as a bone bruise.

“I’m not here to talk about my knee, guys,” Brown said. “It is what it is. I’m focused on Orlando.”

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla said he anticipates Brown being full-go for the playoffs.

“He looks good,” Mazzulla said. “He was able to do everything, no limitations. He’s been great, physically, mentally, really preparing himself, ready to go. So, (I) love the week that he had.”
