Bulls Prefer To Resolve Zach LaVine Trade Before Discussing New Deal With DeMar DeRozan

The Chicago Bulls would like to resolve a possible trade of Zach LaVine before engaging on contract talks with DeMar DeRozan, according to Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report. DeRozan and the Bulls have a window to discuss a new contract before open free agency begins, but there has been little dialogue.

Haynes also reports while speaking on “thisleague UNCUT” that there are possible LaVine deals available to the Bulls, but they may not yet be to their liking where it would be considered a win for the franchise.

K.C. Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago also reports that “as of late last week, little momentum existed for a new deal” between DeRozan and the Bulls.

DeRozan joined the Bulls in 2021 on a three-year, $85 million sign-and-trade from the San Antonio Spurs. DeRozan also received interest that offseason from the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Detroit Pistons.

DeRozan is represented by Aaron Goodwin.

After multiple heart-to-heart talks with Warriors coach Steve Kerr, Thompson said he resolved to just have fun the rest of this season.

As for his contract, staying with the only team he’s ever played for remains Thompson’s goal. However, the veteran shooting guard has other factors he’s going to consider.

“Yes, I wanna re-sign with the Dubs, but I also have to prioritize my mental health and lay out what’s important to me at this point in my career,” Thompson said.
