Big crowd in Spain for Grizzlies-Raptors

The Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors probably weren’t expecting a playoff-like atmosphere for their preseason games in Spain. They’re getting it, though. A capacity crowd of 14,500 will pack the Palacio de Deportes on Thursday when the Grizzlies play Estudiantes and the Raptors face Spanish league champion Real Madrid.

Klay Thompson and the Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a three-year, $50 million sign-and-trade with the Golden State Warriors facilitating. The Charlotte Hornets will acquire Josh Green from the Mavericks as part of the trade for two future second round picks.

Thompson was a first round pick by the Warriors in 2011 and they went on to win four titles together. Thompson, who is represented by Greg Lawrence, is coming off a five-year, $190 million contract agreed upon in 2019 following his ACL tear in Game 6 of The Finals. In 77 games last season, Thompson averaged 17.9 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting 38.7 percent on three-pointers.

Thompson also strongly considered the Los Angeles Lakers. Thompson had four-year offers for more money elsewhere, but taking less was reportedly offset by an opportunity to win a title with Dallas and the difference in state income taxes.
