Victor Wembanayma ‘Intrigued’ By Idea Of Playing With Trae YoungVictor Wembanayma ‘Intrigued’ By Idea Of Playing With Trae Young

The San Antonio Spurs are expected to pursue a point guard this offseason to add alongside Victor Wembanyama, with one potential target believed to be Trae Young. Wembanyama is believed to at least be “intrigued” by the possibility of the Spurs trading for Young.

“I will say I’ve talked to people who know Wemby who have indicated he is at least intrigued by that idea,” said Tim MacMahon on The Hoop Collective podcast. “Now, intrigued by that idea and pounding the table are two very different things. I have no idea whether Gregg Popovich would be intrigued by the idea.”

“He’s not classically a Popovich player, Trae Young,” said Brian Windhorst.

The theory of the Spurs trading for Young is that he would vastly improve their offense, while Wembanyama is a special enough defensive player to help reduce Young’s defensive limitations.

San Antonio is in a unique situation to trade for Young as they own two lottery picks in this year’s draft and also control Atlanta’s draft for the next three years.

WBD Files Memo Asking Judge To Deny NBA’s Motion To Dismiss Suit, Trial Could Be Held In April 2025WBD Files Memo Asking Judge To Deny NBA’s Motion To Dismiss Suit, Trial Could Be Held In April 2025

Warner Bros. Discovery filed a 33-page memorandum on September 20th that aims to convince New York Judge Joel M. Cohen to deny the NBA’s motion to dismiss their breach of contract lawsuit.

The case centers on whether the NBA failed to honor WBD’s match rights as the league moved forward with their media rights deal with Amazon. WBD contends they matched Amazon’s offer.

Signed by attorney David L. Yohai on behalf of himself and other attorneys from the law firms Weil, Gotshal & Manges and Hausfeld, the memo focuses on why a dismissal of “multi-billion-dollar issues” is allegedly unwarranted.

The goal of the memo is to get the case past a motion to dismiss, which would mean parties would share evidence and provide sworn testimony as part of discovery.

TBS and WBD maintain there is a disagreement over the facts of match rights. They also maintain questions about whether the NBA “acted in bad faith to circumvent TBS’s matching rights” warrant a closer look.

If the case advances, court records indicate a trial is expected to be held sometime in April 2025. TNT will continue broadcasting the NBA during the 24-25 season.
