Saturday at Santa Anita, Combatant held off fellow longshot Multiplier to win the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) by a neck with beaten favorite Midcourt third. Also on the card, River Boyne won the Frank E. Kilroe Mile (G1), Authentic won the San Felipe Stakes (G2), Flagstaff won the San Carlos Stakes (G2), and Warren’s Showtime won the China Doll Stakes.
