Dixie Chatter upset Salute the Sarge in the $250,000 Norfolk Stakes for 2-year-olds at Santa Anita on Sunday. Ridden by Richard Migliore, the 5-2 second choice covered 1 1/16 miles over Santa Anita’s new Cushion Track in 1:42.64. Dixie Chatter paid $7.80, $3.80 and $3. Salute the Sarge returned $3.20 and $2.60, and Shore Do paid $3.40 to show.

Saturday at Del Mar, Beyond Brilliant led all the way to win the Hollywood Derby (G1) by a neck over Santin with favorite Public Sector 4th. Also on the card were the Seabiscuit Handicap (G2) won by Field Pass and the Jimmy Durante Stakes (G3) won by Tezzaray. Get the results, charts, and photos here.

Magna Entertainment Corporation acquired full ownership of Pimlico Race Course and Laurel Park on Monday after exercising its option to purchase the remaining interest in The Maryland Jockey Club. Magna Entertainment will pay about $18.3 million plus interest to the De Francis Entities, under the terms of an option agreement put in place in 2002.
