Midnight Lute headlines field for Breeders’ Cup Sprint

Fort Prado rallied to beat T.D. Vance by a head Thursday in the $112,600 Woodford Stakes at Keeneland. The 6-year-old Fort Prado, ridden by Rene Douglas, ran 5 1/2 furlongs on the turf course in 1:03.20 and paid $11, $4.80 and $3.40. T.D. Vance returned $3.40 and $2.60, and Atticus Kristy paid $5.40 to show.

The stud fees are in from Darley America: Kentucky Derby winner Street Sense will stand for $75,000, Hard Spun for $50,000. Street Sense closed out his career with a disappointing fourth-place finish in the $5 million Breeders’ Cup at Monmouth Park on Saturday, with Hard Spun finishing second behind Curlin.

Rajiv Maragh was the winning jockey in back-to-back stakes races as the Meadowlands Racetrack kicked off its 41-date thoroughbred meet on Monday afternoon. Maragh first rode Remain Silent to 2-length victory over Silver Timber in the $55,000 King Bold Reality Stakes, setting a new course record in the process.
