Lantana Mob took command in the stretch and coasted to an easy win in the $150,000 Sapling Stakes at Monmouth Park on Sunday, beating Preachin Man by 3 1/4 lengths on the final day of the meet. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by Stewart Elliott, Lantana Mob covered the six furlongs on the fast main track in 1:09.97 and paid $8.60, $5.60 and $2.60.

While the main track at Santa Anita is closed and they work to fix the problems with the racing surface, the training track opened again on Friday for gallops. Here is more on that plus some photos from Friday.
