Rules for the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play Bracket Challenge

RULES OVERVIEW: The World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play Bracket Challenge is a free bracket-style game that lets registered users test their PGA TOUR knowledge by picking who they believe will be the winners in each match-up of the 2018 World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play event. The Dell Technologies Match Play event is scheduled to be competed March 21–25, 2018. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the Challenge. By registering, users agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Rules and the decisions of PGATOUR.COM, LLC (Administrator), which shall be final. The Challenge may not be used in connection with any form of gambling. The Challenge is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and void where prohibited or restricted by law. Contest may not be used in connection with any form of gambling. ELIGIBILITY The Challenge is open to individuals (18) years of age or older as of March 7, 2018 who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia. Limit one entry per person/household. Employees of PGA TOUR Inc., PGATOUR.COM LLC, or Dell Technologies Inc., and each of their parent, subsidiary, affiliate, agent or representative companies, and the members and employees of each, (collectively, the “Challenge Entitiesâ€) and the immediate family members of each and those residing in the same household may participate but are not eligible to win any prizes. By registering, users agree to accept and be bound by all terms of these Official Rules and the decisions of Administrator, which shall be final. KEY DATES Users may register for the Challenge beginning March 7, 2018. Users may create entries and make selections at any time from March 19, 2018 until just prior to commencement of competitive play in the Championship on March 21, 2018 (“Challenge Periodâ€). The Challenge competition begins on March 21, 2018, and ends March 25, 2018. KEY DATES: March 7, 2018: Early registration available to general public to sign up and create leagues March 19, 2018: Bracket available to registered users to make picks. March 21, 2018: Deadline to submit picks is before the first scheduled tee time of the tournament. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the Challenge is to accumulate the most points by correctly selecting the “winning pick” for each of the thirty-one (31) match-ups associated with the Championship. HOW TO PLAY: After registering, to make selections, a user must complete the entire bracket by predicting one (1) winner for each match-up in the Championship. The user will make a prediction by clicking on the name of the golfer they believe will advance to the next round of the Championship (i.e., one golfer out of each Round Robin starting group of 4 to advance to the Round of 16). Users will then advance golfers all the way through the bracket to the Championship match and 3rd place match. After completing all selections, users must enter a prediction for the tiebreaker question: How many birdies will there be during the Championship match? The tiebreaker question will be used to determine a winner in the event that there is a tie for the most points awarded (see Scoring below). All selections, including the tie-breaker prediction, must be submitted during the Challenge Period. Users may have the opportunity to create a private group and invite friends to play along and/or join a private or public group that has already been created. No additional prizes will be awarded in connection with groups. SCORING Points for a correct pick in a given round is shown below: Group Winner : 10 points per pick Round of 16 : 20 points per pick Round of 8 : 40 points per pick Semi Finals: 80 points per pick Championship : 160 points Third Place Match : 40 Points c. Lock-time . All picks will lock at the scheduled first tee time on March 21, 2018. Prizing Three (3) prizes will be awarded. The overall winner, overall runner up and overall third place winner will be determined by the top three highest cumulative points totals from among all eligible entries received during the Challenge period, with the overall winner having the highest score, the overall runner up having the second highest score and the overall third place winner having the third highest score. Cumulative point totals are calculated by summing all of a user’s matchups during the contest period. In the case of a tie for highest score, the user who correctly answered the tie breaker question for number of birdies during the final match will be the winner. In the event that two or more entries are still tied after applying this tiebreaker, a winner will be randomly selected from among those still tied. The overall winner will win a $300 gift card to PGA TOUR Superstores The overall runner-up will win a $150 gift card to PGA TOUR Superstores The overall third place winner will win a dozen golf balls of their choice (approx. $60 in value) Total ARV of all prizes is US $510. Limit one prize per person/household. All federal, state, local, municipal and provincial taxes related to the prize are the sole responsibility of the winner. All fees and surcharges on the prize, if applicable, are the sole responsibility of the winner. Winners will be identified within approximately 10 days following the Challenge Period. Odds of winning are dependent upon knowledge of the game of golf, the Championship, the participating golfers and, in the case of ties, the number of entries tied for highest scores. MISCELLANEOUS TERMS By registering as a user, you grant Administrator the right, without obligation, to use your name, Challenge and league names, city and state of residence, score, ranking, voice, pictures and likeness, without compensation, for the purpose of executing the Challenge and also for the purpose of advertising and publicizing the goods and services related to the Challenge in any manner or medium throughout the world in perpetuity unless prohibited by law. Knost retires after Waste Management Phoenix Open missed cutKnost retires after Waste Management Phoenix Open missed cut

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Former No. 1-ranked amateur Colt Knost is calling it a career after missing the cut at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, he told golfchannel.com. “The game has just changed so much, Knost said after shooting 70-72 to miss the cut by one. “Guys hit is so far, and I don’t. But you know, I’m excited for what I have ahead. Knost already does a radio show with SiriusXM and said he will turn to broadcasting fulltime. Related: Leaderboard | Amy paying it forward The 34-year-old reached No. 1 in the world amateur ranks after winning the 2007 U.S. Amateur and U.S. Amateur Public Links, and played for the winning U.S. Walker Cup team. He turned pro and won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour. Upon graduating to the PGA TOUR he reached a high of 79th in the FedExCup (2016) in a 13-year professional career. One high point: Knost hit all 18 greens in regulation and shot a second-round 63, with 10 birdies, at THE PLAYERS Championship in 2016. This, despite three-putting his last hole. He would lead the field in greens hit and finish T3, but a wrist injury came soon after. “I was playing so good, he said, “and then I got hurt. It was just frustrating. It just sucks to end this way. The injury kept him from playing his best, or in some cases even playing at all. Playing on a Major Medical Extension this season, the Scottsdale resident had three starts to earn 322 points, or equal to No. 125 on the 2016-17 FedExCup points list. He missed the cut at the Safeway Open and Sony Open in Hawaii, and needed a victory at TPC Scottsdale. Knost thanked his family, friends and sponsors on Instagram, saying, in part, that he had the greatest job in the world for a very long time and he’s ready for the next chapter.

Tony Finau overcomes early triple bogey to contend at MayakobaTony Finau overcomes early triple bogey to contend at Mayakoba

PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico – All Tony Finau could do after making a triple bogey on his second hole of the week was to laugh it off. And after finishing with a 3-under 68, that mental approach paid off. Finau, who birdied six of his final 12 holes to get back into red figures for the day, had two penalty shots on the par-4 second. He almost fell flat on his face after his third shot, he said with a smile, as the ball was above his feet and a mighty lash nearly caused him to miss the ball entirely. “It was a seven,” said Finau, “but it was quite funny. I almost missed the golf ball on a real shot in a real tournament. I took (the score) pretty lightly. “I knew it was really early in the day but mostly early in the tournament. If you’re going to make big mistakes like that, you’re going to want to do it early.” Finau managed to settle into his round after that, making birdie on the very next hole. He started to play a little more consistently through the balance of the day and had a round-saver, he said, after chipping in for par on the ninth. There was mud on his ball for his approach shot which ended up 35 yards left of his intended target. When he found his ball near the green, there was a stick behind it so he couldn’t make clean contact. But he got it to a good enough spot that his deft touch allowed him to knock it in for par. “Up to that point I had made a couple birdies, but when things were not going my way, they were really not going my way,” said Finau. “It was little things that could have made me frustrated, but I just decided that we were going to roll with the punches, and I was happy I did, because I made a nice run on the back nine and just looking to keep it up tomorrow.” Finau added birdies on Nos. 11, 13, 15, and the par-4 closing hole. He’ll be well back of the 9-under 62 shot by Will Gordon, who has the first-round lead, but Finau knows he finished well after a tough start. “I was happy to fight my way back into the thick of the scores on a day when it was very scoreable, and I thought that 3-under was respectable after the start,” said Finau. “There are 3-under’s that feel like, ‘ehh’ and there are 3-under’s that feel like, ‘Wow, that was great’ and that was the second of the two.”
