Pick ‘Em Preview: The RSM ClassicPick ‘Em Preview: The RSM Classic

Before you invest any more time into shopping for gifts for the holidays, give the last edition of PGA TOUR Pick ‘Em Live before the break a go. One more prize pool of $5,000 is for the taking at The RSM Classic. The weeklong bets are the same as last week in Houston, and there’s a smorgasbord from which to choose your winner, Top 5 and Top 10. Glass and Rob serve their offerings below. Only one of the six is a PGA TOUR winner, so you get an easy idea of their expectations; well, at least before either slams the trunk on a guy. Round 1 bets were not loaded into the interface as of Tuesday, so we’ve omitted guessing to eliminate confusion. Good luck and have an outstanding holiday season! Register for PGA TOUR Pick ‘Em Live here and monitor Rob’s and Glass’ progress as Influencers. For a broader explanation of the format and FAQs, click here. TOURNAMENT TO WIN Glass … Max McGreevy (+35000) Going out with a bang in the Golden Isles! The hope this week is that the full field has its collective eyes on the upcoming holidays or Davis Love III Barbecue. With so many first-time winners and a game that caters to taking chances, I’m going to shoot the moon early. The last time that the Oklahoma native was on coastal bermudagrass, he cashed T8 in Bermuda on another short track. Let’s get weird because we can! Rob … Nick Hardy (+6000) Before we dig into the holiday feasts, kudos to Glass for earning the last honors of the year. It didn’t help that I missed R3 3-balls last week, but those things happen when real-time windows are open for only a short time during tournaments suspended and restarted. No doubt I have the edge in the long-term, but he’s showing why it’s not how you start, play the first half, the middle portion, the early part of the second half and most of the home stretch, it’s how you walk off the calendar. Glass will take me down again if McGreevy hits, and at those odds, I’d love to see it. Stories of someone connecting for real at PointsBet would be worth reading. As for my selection, it’s simple. Hardy hasn’t relented in the 5½ months since returning from a wrist injury. He checks all the boxes, including prior experience at Sea Island (T63, 2021). With value stretched across a good portion of the top of the board, fluctuation in guys who start slow only will make it more difficult to convince me to jump to another charge unless Hardy gets nicked. TOP 5 Rob … Scott Stallings (+1000) Loving this line on a guy not far removed from a torrid stretch that yielded his debut at the TOUR Championship. He has a solid, unspectacular record at Sea Island where all of his most recent trips were either lackluster or unfortunate due to one bad round. Just last year, he sat T5 entering the finale before backpedaling to T29 with a closing 73. Sure, we know that he’s been inconsistent throughout his career, but he’s nearest the best form of his life. Glass … Denny McCarthy (+750) Another stud on this surface, read about his recent performances here in Horses for Courses. Should feel comfortable here and will be looking to take the next step at Seaside. TOP 10 Glass … Davis Thompson (+700) Played here as an amateur three times and was T23 on debut. His results in his first four events with a TOUR card this season include T9 and T12 with zero missed cuts. Oh, and he grew up here. And his dad is the tournament director. Giddy up, youngster! Rob … Henrik Norlander (+1400) Entirely worth the reach. When he got off to the hot start at the Barracuda in July, we were treated to his passion to play on the PGA TOUR. He makes noise so infrequently, but he’s never bashful about running toward the trophy. This has been evident twice before at Sea Island. The first two of his six career top-five finishes have occurred here, in 2016 (P2) and 2019 (T5), so there’s a strong level of comfort on top of his conditioned response. Also just hung up a T15 in Mexico, so there’s enough game of late to warrant this opening bid. NOTE: While Glass and Rob typically stick with their selections as detailed in Pick ‘Em Preview, they are allowed the right to make changes at any time. AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am host organization, Monterey Peninsula Foundation, will be first to reach a charitable milestone among PGA TOUR tournamentsAT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am host organization, Monterey Peninsula Foundation, will be first to reach a charitable milestone among PGA TOUR tournaments

MONTEREY, Calif. – In 2022, Monterey Peninsula Foundation will be first to reach a charitable giving milestone among PGA TOUR Tournaments – surpassing $200 million in total donations. Perennially ranked among the PGA TOUR’s top charitable contributors, the Foundation is thrilled to reach this threshold and carry on the traditions of golf and giving established by Bing Crosby and friends. Since 1947 the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has set the benchmark for generating millions of dollars, which are donated annually to nonprofit organizations throughout Monterey and the surrounding communities. RELATED: First Tee-Monterey County members discuss positive impacts “AT&T is incredibly proud of the great work that the Monterey Peninsula Foundation is doing to support and empower our communities,” said Lori Lee, CEO of AT&T Latin America and Global Marketing Officer for AT&T. “From the beginning, they’ve been a great partner, because they embody what the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is all about – bringing people together to make a difference.” Monterey Peninsula Foundation strives to serve the diverse needs of the greater Monterey Bay area and to address the inequities within the region. Despite many challenges caused by the pandemic, the Foundation has provided support for urgent needs related to health and human services, food security, and educational equity. Long-term grant recipients include California State Monterey Bay, Montage Health, Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey and Santa Cruz Counties, and First Tee – Monterey County. The Foundation is also proud to support the neighborhoods of East Salinas with funding to establish an early childhood learning center, soccer complex, community gathering space, and park with safe public access. “To reach this significant milestone speaks to the support of our title sponsor, partners, fans, and volunteers,” said Clint Eastwood, Chairman of the Board, Monterey Peninsula Foundation. “The tournament has had a lasting and incredibly positive impact on our local communities.” “On behalf of the PGA TOUR, my congratulations to the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, AT&T and the thousands of PGA TOUR members who have supported this event over the years,” added PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan. “The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has for decades combined the best in sports and entertainment for our fans along with a charitable impact that positively affects thousands of lives in Monterey and the surrounding communities. “And with this milestone as a backdrop, we are excited to announce the PGA TOUR’s charitable total of more than $173 million for 2021, bringing the TOUR’s all-time total to $3.37 billion. This continued impact is ingrained in the PGA TOUR’s DNA and would not be possible without the long-standing commitment of our players, tournaments and partners.” Throughout this year’s tournament, title sponsor AT&T will feature “AT&T Birdies for Students” a friendly competition where for every birdie or better on the 17th hole, AT&T will pledge $2,500 to help bridge the digital divide so more students and others who need it can have access to the internet. As leaders from the world of business, sports, and entertainment are drawn to the iconic Pebble Beach golf courses to play with PGA TOUR professional partners, the legacy of golf and giving will continue. Justin Thomas, Danny Lee share 54-hole lead at THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGESJustin Thomas, Danny Lee share 54-hole lead at THE CJ CUP @ NINE BRIDGES

JEJU ISLAND, South Korea (AP) — Justin Thomas was looking at a three-stroke lead at THE CJ CUP with one hole to play Saturday, which would have set him up nicely for his second win in three years at South Korea’s only PGA TOUR event. But the 18th hole saw a big swing in the scoring at the NINE BRIDGES course. South Korean-born New Zealander Danny Lee holed a long eagle putt to finish with a 68. Thomas, who won the inaugural CJ CUP in 2017, bogeyed the 18th for a 70 and he and Lee were tied with a three-round total of 15-under 201. Australian Cameron Smith was in third place, three strokes behind, after a 68. Jordan Spieth shot 70 and was in a three-way tie for fourth, four behind. Related: Leaderboard The biggest movers Saturday were last year’s runner-up Gary Woodland and first-year professional Collin Morikawa. Their 65s moved them into a tie for seventh place which included Ian Poulter (66) and Graeme McDowell (68). Defending CJ CUP champion Brooks Koepka withdrew from the tournament before the third round after aggravating a left knee injury a day earlier when he slipped on wet concrete. J.B. Holmes also withdrew after the first nine holes of his third round with an unknown ailment. Koepka, playing his second event since stem cell treatment on the knee Aug. 25, shot a 3-over 75 on Friday at NINE BRIDGES after opening with a 69. He was 13 strokes behind Thomas in the limited-field event with no cut. “After consulting with my doctor, I have decided to withdraw from the CJ CUP and head home for further tests,” Koepka said in a statement. “I appreciate everyone’s concerns and support. I’ll keep you posted as I learn more.” Koepka returned to Florida to meet with his doctors, leaving his status for the HSBC Champions in two weeks in China uncertain. He missed the cut two weeks ago in his season debut at Las Vegas. The CJ CUP is the first of three PGA TOUR events in Asia, continuing next week at The ZOZO CHAMPIONSHIP in Japan — which will feature Tiger Woods — and ending with the World Golf Championships event in Shanghai.
