Justin Thomas was off to a strong start at the Open Championship, but it didn’t take long for his game to desert him on a waterlogged Friday afternoon. After opening with a 67, Thomas sat just two strokes adrift of the 18-hole lead. With rain pouring down on Royal Birkdale, he had to have been expecting a bit of regression during the second round, but nothing could have prepared him for what was coming.
