Damian Lillard Diagnosed With Torn Left Achilles Tendon

Damian Lillard has been officially diagnosed with a torn left Achilles tendon following an MRI. Lillard was believed to have suffered the injury with the original diagnosis in the locker room following the first quarter injury in Game 4.

Lillard recently returned from a deep vein thrombosis to play in the playoffs. During the 23-24 season, Lillard dealt with an Achilles issue that forced him to miss the end of the Bucks’ playoff run.

Lillard averaged 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists in 24-25. Lillard has a player option for 26-27 with his contract expiring in 2027. Lillard was set to become extension eligible this offseason with the Bucks.

The typical recovery timetable for an Achilles tear is at least 12 months with the likes of Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson each returning from the injury while into their 30s.
