Jaylin Williams Out For Preseason With Hamstring Strain

Jaylin Williams will miss the remainder of training camp and the preseason due to a right hamstring strain. Williams was competing for backup minutes in the Thunder’s big man rotation.

Mark Daigneault said that he appreciates Williams’ communication skills as he helps to set the Thunder defense. Williams is also a solid outside shooter, which is a different component from what Isaiah Hartenstein brings as the primary backup for Chet Holmgren.

The Thunder are also still considering lineups where Holmgren and Hartenstein both start. In those configurations, Williams is expected to take on a bigger role as the backup center.
