Hawks Really Like Donovan Clingan In Draft

Dan Hurley recently did an interview that mostly about his decision to not take the Los Angeles Lakers head coach job. However, in that process, Hurley dropped some 2024 NBA Draft intel.

When the UConn coach was asked who he talked to for advice about jumping to the NBA, he rattled off a long list. One of the people Hurley said he talked to was Atlanta Hawks coach Quin Snyder.

“Quin Snyder is a really smart guy who, I know that they (the Atlanta Hawks) really like Donovan (Clingan), so I was able to kind of talk to them about Donovan, but then also to pick his brain in large part,” Hurley said.

The Hawks hold the first overall pick in the draft. Donovan Clingan has mostly been mocked somewhere in the range of the third to seventh picks. However, recent reports have given some momentum to Clingan potentially being selected first or second overall.

Tom Thibodeau and the New York Knicks have agreed to a three-year contract extension that runs through the 27-28 season. The Knicks hired Thibodeau as head coach in 2020 and they have made the playoffs in three of his four seasons. The Knicks have reached the Eastern Conference Semifinals in each of the past two seasons.

Previous reports had indicated that Thibodeau would likely sign an extension worth more than $10 million per season, though the initial reporting didn’t specify a number.

Thibodeau has a career record of 527-398.

The Knicks also signed Jalen Brunson to a contract extension this offseason while acquiring Mikal Bridges in a trade with the Brooklyn Nets and re-signing OG Anunoby as a large part of their core solidifies.
