LeBron James Starts ‘Mind The Game’ Podcast With J.J. Redick

LeBron James is starting a basketball-centric podcast with J.J. Redick called “Mind the Game.”

The duo is producing the new venture with their two companies, James’ Uninterrupted and Redick’s ThreeFourTwo Productions.

“I’m really proud of what we’ve done to innovate in sports media,” James said in a statement to The Athletic. “… When I do a project, the only thing I think about is whether me and my friends would watch it. That is definitely the case with ‘Mind the Game.’ Everything doesn’t need to be designed for internet culture and clicks.”

The concept of the program is meant to be a departure from talk shows like ESPN’s “First Take,” where Redick is a contributor.

“It’s meant to be a very free-flowing conversation about the sport and about the game,” Redick said in a phone interview. “If you look at it in a very simplistic way, it’s just about basketball.”

Mark Cuban To Control Mavs’ Basketball Operations ‘Forevermore’Mark Cuban To Control Mavs’ Basketball Operations ‘Forevermore’

Despite agreeing to sell a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks to the Adelson family, Mark Cuban reportedly has no plans to exit the basketball side of the business in what is an unprecedented ownership maneuver.

“I don’t know exactly what the language is in the purchase agreement, but one thing I have been told, and the exact word I heard is Cuban will have basketball operations for quote forevermore,” said ESPN’s Tim MacMahon on the Brian Windhorst podcast.

“I assume that is agreed to in writing.”

Cuban, 65, has increasingly shifted his attention away from the business side of the Mavericks in recent years while remaining involved in basketball operations. However, Cuban has even taken a lesser role in basketball operations since hiring Nico Harrison to replace Donnie Nelson.

For the Adelsons, they appear to be more focused on their aspirations of building an arena and hotel in downtown Dallas while lobbying to change Texas state laws to permit gambling.

MacMahon also suggested that the decline of regional sports networks and how that will impact the revenue of sports teams played a role in Cuban’s timing to sell a majority stake.

Draymond Green is expected to return to the Golden State Warriors in the coming days as he nears a return from his indefinite suspension.

Green was suspended indefinitely by the NBA on December 13th since he struck Jusuf Nurkic shortly after his return from his suspension following his choking of Rudy Gobert.

Green will miss his 11th game on Thursday and while there is still no return date set, his return is getting closer.

Green has been participating in individual counseling sessions and periodic virtual meetings that include team, league and union officials designed to chart his progress toward reinstatement.

Green is in Year 1 of a four-year, $100 million contract with the Warriors.
