Newly-named Baltimore Orioles interim manager Dave Trembley smiles as he talks about what it means to be managing the Orioles at a news conference in San Diego, in this June 19, 2007 file photo. The Orioles scheduled a news conference for Wednesday afternoon Aug. 22, 2007 to announce that Trembley, who took over for fired manager Sam Perlozzo on June 18, will retain the position entering the 2008 season, said Andy MacPhail, president of baseball operations for the team.

Dave Trembley will return next season as manager of the Baltimore Orioles after leading the team to a winning record over the last two months. Trembley replaced Sam Perlozzo on June 18, then was given the job through the rest of the season on July 31. The Orioles announced Wednesday that his contract has been extended through the 2008 season, with a club option for 2009.
