Portland Trail Blazers guard Brandon Roy (7) looks to pass against the New Orleans Hornets in the second half of their NBA basketball game in New Orleans, Friday, Nov. 2, 2007. Roy was high scorer for the Trail Blazers with 23-points but Portland lost to New Orleans, 113-93.

More than a million residents have returned to the New Orleans metro area since Hurricane Katrina, and many of them are missing some high-powered, winning basketball being played by the NBA franchise that recently came back as well. Chris Paul scored 19 points and Peja Stojakovic added 18 as sharp-shooting New Orleans beat the Portland Trail Blazers 113-93 on Friday night for the Hornets’ second…

Nikola Jokic On Mat Ishbia: He’s A Fan, He Can’t Influence The GameNikola Jokic On Mat Ishbia: He’s A Fan, He Can’t Influence The Game

Late in the first half of Game 4 of the Denver Nuggets-Phoenix Suns second-round playoff series, things got heated. Nikola Jokic was assessed a technical foul after he knocked Suns owner Mat Ishbia back after a courtside confrontation.

After a play, Ishbia found himself with the ball in his hands. Jokic tried to take the ball to set up a quick inbounds play. When the ball fell into another fan’s hands, Jokic pushed Ishbia back with his forearm and Ishbia fell into his seat.

Jokic was given a technical foul for making deliberate contact with a spectator, which neither he nor anyone from the Nuggets thought was fair.

“(Official Tony Brothers) told me I was elbowing the fan,” Jokic said. “But the fan put the hand on me first. So, I thought the league’s supposed to protect us or whatever, but maybe I’m wrong, so we will see.”

Jokic added, “He’s a fan, isn’t he? He cannot influence the game by holding the ball.”

Denver coach Michael Malone said he thought it was “crazy” that Nokic got a technical foul. When asked if it being Ishbia made a difference, Malone was clear in his thoughts.

“I don’t give a s***. I really don’t care,” Malone replied.

Tyus Jones, Suns Agree To One-Year, $3.3M DealTyus Jones, Suns Agree To One-Year, $3.3M Deal

Point guard Tyus Jones and the Phoenix Suns have agree to a one-year deal. Jones will sign with Phoenix for the veteran minimum for next season.

Jones told ESPN that he and his agent considered multiple sign-and-trade opportunities. In the end, Jones felt that signing with the Suns was the best way to rebuild his value before going back onto the free agent market next summer.

As a first-time starter last season, Jones averaged career-highs nearly across the board for the Washington Wizards. Jones averaged 12.0 points on 49/41/80 shooting splits and 7.3 assists in 66 games.

After having point guard be an issue for the entirety of last season, Phoenix addressed the position this summer. The Suns have added Jones and Monte Morris to bring into two veterans for depth at the lead ballhandler spot.
