Women’s Golf Day, Callaway Golf Company and Topgolf are proud to announce that they will join together to ring the Opening Bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Tuesday, May 25. The bell ringing at this iconic podium will help celebrate and bring awareness to Women’s Golf Day on June 1. Founded by Elisa Gaudet in 2016, Women’s Golf Day is a unique, one-day sporting and community celebration that unites women through golf across the globe, transcending race, religion, language, geography or economic status. Held on the first Tuesday in June, this event celebrates girls and women playing golf and learning skills that last a lifetime. FORT WORTH, Texas — Scottie Scheffler almost made it through another round at Colonial without a bogey, this time with wind gusting through the trees at Hogan’s Alley. The world’s top-ranked player has the lead alone after the third round. Scheffler, whose only bogey at Colonial so far this week came at No. 17 on Saturday, shot a 2-under 68 with wind gusts of around 30 mph and temperatures in the upper-90s. His 11-under total was two strokes ahead of Brendon Todd, whose third-round 65 was bogey-free, and Scott Stallings (70). Consecutive birdies to start the back nine gave Scheffler a two-stroke lead. He had a 20-foot chip-in from the left edge of the green at No. 10, then hit a 357-yard drive and 250-yard approach at the 621-yard 11th before pitching to 6 inches. Scheffler’s bogey was a three-putt from 37 feet at No. 17, where his 5-foot par chance slid just left of the cup. He got that stroke back with a 31-foot birdie on his final putt of the day. The only bogey-free round other than Todd was a 68 by Harold Varner III, who was alone in fourth place at 8 under. After Scheffler missed the cut last week at the PGA Championship, his first cut since his season debut in October, the Masters champion goes into Sunday’s final round with a chance for his fifth career PGA TOUR victory — all in a span of 10 starts since mid-February. More gusty wind and high temperatures are in the forecast for Sunday The last PGA TOUR player with five wins in a season before the start of June was Tom Watson in 1980. Todd got to 9 under with a 31-foot birdie putt at the par-3 eighth hole that put him 5 under for his round. It was his second birdie of at least 30 feet — the other came at No. 2 after he opened with an 8-foot eagle putt at the 551-yard first hole. Beau Hossler and Stallings began the third round tied with Scheffler for the lead. Scheffler had also been part of the lead after 18 holes, when a Colonial-record eight players were tied atop the leaderboard. Hossler and Stallings had pars only through the first six holes, but fell out of the lead when both missed makeable par putts at No. 7. Hossler’s 8-footer was possibly pushed by the wind and skimmed the right edge, while Stallings lipped the hole from 3 1/2 feet. Stallings was quickly two strokes off the lead after bogey at the par-3 eight hole, where he missed a 5-foot par chance. He had another bogey at No. 10, but three birdies over his last seven holes got him even for the round after a finishing four-footer. Hossler ended with consecutive bogeys for a 73 that dropped him to 6 under and in a three-way tie for ninth that included Mito Pereira (68). Pereira finished with a 50-foot putt at No. 18 for his third birdie in the last five holes for a round of 68 to put him at 6-under 204. It comes a week after Pereira blew the PGA Championship lead and missed getting into the playoff with Justin Thomas and Dallas-area resident Will Zalatoris because of a double bogey on the 72nd hole. Thomas, the world’s fifth-ranked player, and Zalatoris both shot 3 over the first two rounds to miss the Colonial cut.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — FedExCup champion Patrick Cantlay birdied the final four holes Friday for a 4-under 67 and take a two-stroke lead over Robert Streb halfway through the RBC Heritage. RELATED: Leaderboard | Inside the Field: Zurich Classic of New Orleans After dropping back with bogeys on the 11th and 14th holes, Cantlay turned it around on the most difficult stretch at Harbour Town Golf Links with the late birdie run in strong wind swirling off Calibogue Sound. Cantlay had a 9-under 133 total. Streb also had a 67. He appeared to be in position to take the lead into the weekend when he birdied No. 8 — his 17th hole of the day — to reach 7 under. But Cantlay’s accurate irons and hot putter moved him back on top. The run started with a 13-foot birdie putt on 15. He caught Streb a hole later with a 10-footer. Cantlay stuck his tee shot on the par-3 17th within 8 feet for his go-ahead birdie, then rolled in a 21-footer on the par-4 18th. “Obviously, that’s a dream finish,” Cantlay said. “I finally rolled in some putts and that was really nice to see going into the weekend.” TOUR rookie Cameron Young went from his eye-popping debut of 63 on Thursday to a 73 in his second time around Harbour Town. Still, it was good enough to tie for third with Joel Dahmen, Cameron Tringale, Erik van Rooyen and Aaron Wise — three shots behind Cantlay. Dahmen, Tringale and van Rooyen had 67s to match Cantley and Streb for low round of the day. round. Wise shot a 68. Cantlay expects more wind and doesn’t expect to play much differently than he’s done so far. “Just staying with my game plan and continue to leave the golf ball in the right spots, which is paramount around this place, I think is the key,” he said. Streb, who last won The RSM Classic in November 2020, has had a terrible experience at Harbour Town, missing the cut in four of his six career appearances. His best showing was a tie for 44th in 2015. “Haven’t played fantastic around this place, so getting it around in the wind was really good for me,” he said. Young shot a bogey-free 63 on Thursday in his course debut, the 24-year-old making Pete Dye’s treacherous layout look like a roadside pitch-and-putt. Young kept up his stellar play with a birdie on his first hole, the 10th, to reach 9 under. Then he, like so many others before, felt Harbour Town’s full fury. Still, the rookie is just another strong round from contention for his first TOUR victory. “I feel like I’m hitting it really nicely and every chance I have to put myself in the fairway, even if it’s 20 yards farther back, I think I’m going to take a lot of those chances,” Young said. The wind, with gusts of more than 20 mph much of the round, had a significant impact. After only seven holes played over par Thursday, 11 holes did Friday. A couple of top draws won’t be around for the weekend. South Carolina native and world No. 9 Dustin Johnson went 71-72 to shoot 1 over and fall to 0-10 in PGA TOUR events he’s played in his home state. Cameron Smith, tied for third last week at Augusta National, also finished at 1 over to miss his first cut since the Sony Open in January. He shot 73-70. Morgan Hoffmann, in his first PGA TOUR event since October 2019 due to his muscular dystrophy, came up a shot short of the cut, too, also finishing at 1 over with rounds of 71 and 72.
